KANNYWOOD ALLEGES NEGLECT OVER 3 BILLION NAIRA FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GRANT

  Kannywood,the practitioners in the growing Hausa film industry have cried foul over their exclusion in the 3 billion naira federal government entertainment intervention funds by Nollywood.In a statement issued in Kano two weeks ago and jointly signed by the Chairman,Arewa Film Makers Association[AFMAN],Mallam Isma'il  Na'abbah Afakallah and Hamisu Lamido Iyantama, the Hausa film makers having fulfilled all the requirements were not included in the Federal Government intervention funds of Subsidy Reinvestment and  Empowerment Programme[SURE-P] and Graduate Internship Scheme[GIS] for film production and also the FG's Project Act Nollywood. According to the statement,''Kannywood film industry which constitutes about 33 percent of the Nigerian film industry has been marginalized in the FG's recent efforts to empower practitioners in the burgeoning film industry.''
