Last week,one of Nigeria's most accomplished journalists and founding member of Nigeria's first news magazine,Newswatch, Dan Agbese attained the golden age of 70 years. The illustrious journalist and consummate writer studied Journalism at the University of Lagos where he was a prize-winning student.He later proceeded to arguably the best journalism school in the world,the Graduate School of Journalism of Columbia University,New York City where he emerged the best of the 16 international students and among the best of the entire 160 students.
In 1984,he cofounded Newswatch with three other world-class Nigerian journalists.The magazine hit the street for 27 years week in,week out until its controversial take over by the business mogul,Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim two years ago.Dan and his colleagues have established a thriving publishing company,May5 Media,which currently has two best-selling publications to its credit.
