When the Boko Haram insurgency started in Nigeria under the leadership of late Mohammed Yusuf,a Borno-born journalist named Ahmad Salkida was the negotiator between Boko Haram insurgents and the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of the ex President,Olusegun Obasanjo. His role was to broker peace.Needless to say that he did an excellent job of it,as Obasanjo was able to curtail the Boko Haram activities.
The 40 years old unassuming journalist who was very close to late Mohammed Yusuf had since relocated to the United Arab Emirates due to constant threats to his life by the Nigerian Army.In his last tweet, he informed President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration that his service is still available, and he will make himself available,if needed.
His service is seriously needed now.I reliably gathered that he is now in the country,on the Federal Government's invitation.
ReplyDeleteHe should return home. His service is urgently needed now,our missing girls must be rescued.
