NIGERIANS TO PAY MORE FOR ELECTRICITY, SAYS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

The price of gas to power plants may be increased in the nearest future. This will result in the review of electricity tariffs across the country, the Federal Government has said. According to the Federal Government, the price of gas to the power plants is likely to rise from $1.5 per million British thermal unit to $2 million British thermal unit, and that will automatically affect the electricity tariffs.
The Minister of Power,Professor Chinedu Nebo disclosed this unpalatable piece of information to the chief executives of power firms in Abuja on Thursday at the headquarters of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission during a facility tour.
Since the Federal Government attempts to privatise the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, the power outage across the country has increased considerably. The Nigerian populace have groaned over the epileptic power supply across the country.
