FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT BOKO HARAN LEADER,ABUBAKAR SHEKAU

   It is no longer news that the Boko Haram, whose insurgency and dastardly acts have resulted in the untimely deaths of thousands of Nigerians is under the leadership of Abubakar Shekau,a man whose image loomed large,and who is a mystery to many.     His old school mates said he was born in a village called Shekau in Yobe State 38 years ago.He relocated to Maiduguri as a child,and joined the popular Almajiri [street urchins] in search of Islamic knowledge.He was from a wretched background.This,allegedly,affected him psychologically,and made him vowed to vent his anger on the society,which neglected him, when the time ripens.
    He enrolled in an Islamic school called 'High Islam' within the premises of Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies,Mafoni,Maiduguri. His old school mates alleged he was in the habit of carrying big books about,pretending to be a scholar.He had always been aggressive and militant.He was said to be standoffish and unsociable.He was trained by the first leader of Boko Haram,late Mohammed Yusuf.His fame soared following the arrest of Yusuf in early 1999 by the security agency.
  In June 2012,the United States Department of State designated him as a terrorist,and a reward of $7million was placed on his head for any information leading to his arrest,while the Nigerian Army placed 50 million naira on his head. Up till now,he remains elusive.
