A legal bid by e
x-Edo State governor, Mr Lucky Igbinedion to recover the
3.3 billion naira he lost to
Venezuelan fraudsters in an awry oil deal while in office has been quashed by a
United States District
Court. The 2006 business transaction facilitated by former
Venezuelan Ambassador, Enrique Arrundell was enmeshed in a catalogue of intrigues so deep that the court ruled that the deal should not have seen the light of the day in the first place. According to the court, beyond evidence of money transfers to New York and Swiss Bank accounts, very little about the deal
''can be established with any certainty.''
