THINGS FALL APART FOR PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Last week saturday, August 31, the ruling party in Nigeria, the People's Democratic Party[PDP], on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of its emergence broke into two factions on an acrimonious note. The splitting happened before a large crowd of leaders, including President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria and the party supporters from across the country.
During the occasion aptly tagged Special Convention, some influential members of the party led by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, some governors, 3 former governors and disgruntled federal legislators walked out of the convention. They addressed a press conference where they announced the sack of the party's embattled national chairman, Alhaji Bamangar Tukur, and the replacement of his national executive committee with a new one headed by Alhaji Kawu Baraje.
We now have two PDP factions: Jonathan's faction and Atiku's faction.
