EGYPT'S OMAR ASSAR WINS LAGOS TABLE TENNIS CLASSIC

          As predicted by OOB sometime ago, African table tennis champion and World Number 60 in ITTF ranking, Egypt's Omar Assar on saturday won the maiden Lagos International Table Tennis Classic. Assar overcame Nigerian number one seed, Segun Toriola 11-9, 11-4, 13-15, 6-11,11-4, 11-9 in a fire cracking game played  at the indoor sports hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
      Assar said he was exceedingly happy to emerge the first champion of the event. He became 5000 U.S dollars richer with the victory.
      In the women's singles final, Nigerian Cecilia Otu-Akapan defeated compatriot Edem Offiong 9-11,11-7,11-6, 5-11,11-9, 8-11,11-9 in another explosive final game. Cecilia pocketed 4000 U.S. dollars for the victory.
