''ASUU HAS BEEN INFILTRATED BY THE OPPOSITION CAMP'', PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN DECLARED.

The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities[ASUU] has been on strike for the past three months. The series of meetings between ASUU and Federal Government of Nigeria have ended in gridlock. In the last meeting, the Federal Government reportedly agreed to pump 30 billion naira into the development of Nigerian universities. Both ASUU and Federal Government have suspended negotiations until further notice.
In a new twist to the unfolding drama, President Goodluck Jonathan told journalists that ASUU'S seemingly uncooperative attitude has political overtones. He is quoted to have said that ASUU has been infiltrated by the opposition camp who are determined to make his administration to look increasingly unpopular with the Nigerian populace.
