Despite the increasing state of the insecurity of lives and property, the pervasive poverty in the country,the parlous state of the economy and other vices, Nigeria's population has witnessed an upward increment over the years.
According to the 1991 population census, Nigerian population was roughly 89 million. But as at today,we have well over 150 million Nigerians. Naming ceremonies still top the chart of ceremonies being celebrated in Nigeria. The National Population Commission recently confirmed that there has been a steady increase in teenage pregnancy in Nigeria.
We need to look inwards and checkmate our exploding population. We need to stop welcoming the innocent souls into the world of poverty and frustration.
