GOVERNOR FASHOLA PONDERS POLITICAL FUTURE

The outgoing, dynamic Governor of Lagos State, Raji Fashola[SAN] is seriously pondering his political future as his days are now numbered as the State Governor. According to inside sources, the governor had seriously fancied his chances of emerging as the Vice Presidential candidate of the megaparty, All Progressives Congress[APC] due to his huge popularity and stellar performance as Lagos State Governor. However, a few days ago, APC dropped the bombshell that Governor Fashola will not be considered as Vice Presidential candidate largely as a result of his Islamic religion,as the party has been strongly warmed against fielding Muslim-muslim candidates for the 2015 presidential elections.Since the announcement was made, the Governor has been mulling over his political future.

I DID NOT WIN NOBEL PRIZE BECAUSE OF DEATH AND THE KING'S HORSEMAN.

Perhaps you don't know, in order for a writer to be awarded the coveted,ultra-competitive Nobel Prize for Literature, apart from his or her volume of literary works, the writer must write a phenomenally successful literary work that must tickle the Nobel Committee enough that such a writer is qualified to be inducted into the Nobel Hall of Fame. Ernest Hemmingway won the prize for The Old Man and the Sea, Gabriel Garcia Marques won it for 100 Years of Solitude, Toni Morrison reportedly clinched it with her literary masterpiece, Beloved, a novel which sold well over 60 million copies. The big question in literary and academic circles is, which of Soyinka's works made him to win the prize in 1986. Majority have said that he won the prize for Death and the King's Horseman.
On a chance meeting him the Nobel laureate at a book fair in Lagos recently, I asked him the knotty question. Hear him: ''It is not true that I was awarded the Nobel Prize because of Death and the King's Horseman. The Nobel Committee was silent on which of my literary works actually clinched it for me. However, in the citation, A Dance of the Forests, The Man Died and Ake were mentioned sparingly. People often said that I won it for Death.....because of the huge popularity of the play. You can't really unravel the workings of the minds of the Nobel Committee.'''

WHAT IF PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN FAILS TO WIN 2015 ELECTION?

Contrary to popular opinions, if President Goodluck Jonathan fails to win the 2015 presidential election and fails to elongate his stay in that fortress called Aso Rock, heaven will definitely not fall down. With his Ph.D in his kitty and the volume of money he must have saved while serving as Nigeria's president, he will surely get something doing in his post-Aso Rock era. After all, divine intervention rigged events in his favour for him to be catapulted into that coveted position. It took the untimely death of a whole human being [ex President, Shehu Musa Yaradua] for him to get there. If Nigerians say they don't want him as their President again[ events are decidedly pointing in that direction] so be it. Human beings must learn to get prepared for every eventuality. Nothing is forever. ''Life is but a walking shadow'',so says the inimitable English playwright, William Shakespeare. ''All is vanity'',so says King Solomon, the richest and wisest King in human history in the book of Ecclesiastes.
