MASS FAILURE RECORDED IN THE NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL

   The Nigerian Law School recorded its highest failure rate since its 50 years of existence in the recently released 2013/2014 August bar examination. Out of the 5000 candidates who sat for the examination,only about 2000 candidates passed. One of the major reasons that has been given for the abysmally poor performance was the new Director-General of Law School's decision to review the pass mark of the exam from 40% to 50%; a decision informed by his unwavering determination to improve on the standard of the Nigerian Law School,and stem the production of half-baked lawyers in Nigeria.
   Many of the affected students have called for a review of the results. According to one student,'' people worked so hard for the exams,these same people have invested their life savings for the exam, and the DG who is responsible for this mass failure doesn't see reasons with these people. He said he is raising the standards but what we see is a high standard of failure.'' Another aggrieved student contributed that: ''Do we say 3000 students paid 300,000 naira school fees ,then prepared to fail?''

    The former Head of State and presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress[APC], Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari [retd] told The Punch newspaper on Saturday in Kaduna State that another four years of Peoples Democratic Party's rule would spell doom for the country. Buhari said he was ''personally concerned'' about the alleged deliberate plot by the ruling party to use religion and ethnicity to destroy the country.
   The presidential aspirant,who spoke at a northern APC stakeholders interactive meeting in Kaduna, insisted that the greatest problem facing the country was not religion or tribal differences,but a deliberate plot by the PDP-led government to use religion and ethnicity to polarise it for selfish gains ahead of the 2015 general elections. While saying 2015 should be another year of concern for Nigerians, Buhari stated that another four years of PDP would send Nigeria down the drain.

RAPIST FOOTBALLER CHED EVANS IN 500,000 POUND STERLING DEAL

     Sex offender, Ched Evans is set to be offered a two-year contract by his former club, Sheffield United worth more than 500,000 pound sterling. The international Welsh striker was released from Wymott prison yesterday having served half of a 5-year sentence for raping a 19-year-old girl who got drunk in his home town of Rhyl. A source squealed to THE SUN that the 25-year-old had been offered a deal  worth 5000 pound sterling a week,which he is expected to sign. According to the source,''Sheffield United are the only club to have made him an offer and have been waiting for him to get out of prison before tabling the offer to him.'' However,he must make a public apology.

JUDGE MASIPA WILL MOST LIKELY JAIL OSCAR PISTORIUS ON TUESDAY

   INDICATIONS have emerged that Judge Thokozile Masipa will likely hand over a prison sentence to the disgraced South African athlete and paralympian, Oscar Pistorius on Tuesday morning when the much-anticipated sentencing will be handed down. This is largely due to the extremities of the two postures of both his defense counsel led by the unflappable and exceptionally brilliant Barry Roux, and the State prosecutor led by the sarcastic, mean Gerrie Nel. While the defense pleaded for 3 years house arrest punctuated by community service, the prosecutor described this as ''shockingly disproportionate'' and recommended  10 years prison term for the hopeless sprinter.
   OOB sources in Pretoria, South Africa where the sentence will be done revealed that the Judge will likely steer the middle course by jailing Oscar for definitely less than 10 years,probably 5 years. This claim is also corroborated by legal analysts OOB spoke to.
  In the next 48 hours,Oscar will be put out of his misery by knowing his fate.The whole world is waiting.

MAXIMUM 6 MONTHS SENTENCE FOR CYBER TROLLS INCREASED TO TWO YEARS

    INTERNET trolls who subject victims to sarcastic abuses now to face two years jail term under  a tough British Government crackdown,instead of the present 6 months.This harsher sentences are to be introduced following a rash of disgusting,high-profile cases,including rape threats  made against model,Chloe Madeley last week.Justice Secretary Chris Grayling revealed to The Mail On Sunday that the maximum six month sentence for internet abuse will be quadrupled.
  Miss Madeley was targeted after her mother Judy Finnigan made sensitive statement about the footballer and convicted rapists Ched Evans,a remark which swarmed the blogoshere and generated a great deal of interest in the social media.Miss Madeley welcomes the move,saying that the most sickening remarks amounted to ''online terrorism.'' According to Mr Chloe,''these internet trolls are cowards who are poising our national life.No one would permit such venom in person,so there should be no place for it in the social media. That is why we are determined to quadruple the current six-month sentence..''
  Currently,offenders who subject their victims to sexually offensive,verbally abusive or threatening material on the internet can only be prosecuted in magistrates courts under the Malicious Communications Act,which carries a maximum prison sentence of six months. But the planned changes will allow magistrates to pass on serious cases to the crown courts,where offenders would face a maximum of 24 months.

    MY husband lost his job last year as a banker with one of the new generation banks in Nigeria. He was a victim of the downsizing which many Nigerian banks embraced in order to stay in business. OKOTIE LACKS MORAL RIGHT TO QUESTION ORITSEJAFOR-------CAN

       The Christian Association of Nigeria[CAN] has challenged the controversial,stylish Pastor and founder of Household of God, Pastor Chris Okotie to manage his home and keep to the biblical principles of one man,one wife. This reaction came in the heels of Okotie's demand that CAN President,Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor should resign over the alleged involvement of his aircraft in the widely-reported $9.3 million smuggled into South Africa by two Nigerians and an Israeli. Okotie berated the CAN President on his Facebook page for dragging the revered association's name in the mud. The Director of National Issues in CAN, Mr Sunny Oibe told SUNDAY PUNCH that Okotie was looking for popularity through Oritsejafor. He said: ''Is Chris Okotie a christian?How many wives has he? He should go and sort out himself.Even the government has exonerated Pastor Ayo of all the allegations.So,who is Okotie?''
   OOB's submission on this matter is that in as much as I agree that Pastor Okotie definitely lacks the moral compass to criticise any christian for that matter, an association as big and as sensitive as CAN needs a President who is devoid of any controversy,unlike Ayo Oritsejafor.

GUNMEN ASSASSINATE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF BAYELSA STATE INEC IN YENAGOA

   UNKNOWN gunmen on Friday assassinated the Executive Secretary of Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr Simon Akpen in Yenagoa,the state capital. Commissioner of Police in the state,Valentine Ntomchukwu confirmed the killing on Saturday.The police commissioner said Mr Akpen's murder is suspected to be a case of assassination as his attackers left his residence after his death without tampering with his valuables. The assailants shot the victim in the head as he alighted from his car near his residence off Otiotio Road at about 10pm on Friday night. Sources said he died on the spot.His killers left the scene of the crime after accomplishing their dastardly mission.

BOKO HARAM RELEASED 27 HOSTAGES IN CAMEROON

   THE dreaded Islamic sect,Boko Haram, whose dastardly acts have wreaked a great deal of havoc on innocent Nigerian citizens have lately extended their nefarious activities to other African countries. The good news that was broken today is that Boko Haram has released 27 hostages in Cameroun who have been under their captivity for several months.The Cameroun Prime Minister's wife,and several other foreigners were among the released hostages.
